Ezra had been left in charge of groceries today.
The upside of this was that it was a well-known fact that Ezra was rarely lacking in money, so letting him handle buying things was a solid enough choice on that front.
The downside, of course, was that he was a fox with poor impulse control. Meaning he'd bought very little of anything with any real nutritional value. And since he was also lazy, he wasn't very interested in actually putting any of the groceries away, now that he'd made it back from the store. But neither of these would be a problem before Lock came back. So he definitely had time to sit down and devour this can of Ben & Jerry's, now. He had to! Otherwise it might melt from just sitting there on the counter with everything else.
He was a hero.
