As far as Ezra was concerned, not bolting right after the physical intensity peaked was effort enough. (Look, for some people, that took effort. Maybe not him, but he'd met those people before.)

"So it is," he agreed, lazily running his fingers back through his hair. "With the lack of parents and everything."

"Definitely making things easier," Dante said.

He only had the one strip of hair running from back to front, but he did scratch idly at the short, prickly fuzz on the side of his head. "So you were just expecting your friends, or...?"

He was kinda curious. Not curious enough for a direct 'where are your parents', because fuck if he'd hate to get that question himself. But kinda enough to give Ez an opening.

Ezra snorted.

"Fandom couldn't handle a bunch of foxes present at the same time." Also he would probably not allow his sisters to come run around the island for other reasons, either. "Better for everyone if it's just me."

"Guess we would be getting foxy overload," Dante mused, sliding down until he was fully on the bed.

Meant his feet were almost off the bed, though. The perils of being tall.

"There's two of us here already," Ezra replied, tucking his hand under his head. "I think."

He was yet to become quite sure about Kira. She smelled odd, in the most fascinating way.

"I don't think anyone needs my sisters added into the mix."

"They that much of a handful?" Dante asked.

Ezra glanced over with a smirk. "We all are."

Look, his mom stole sweaters for his friends as Christmas presents.

"That could end badly," Dante said, shooting him an amused look. "But a weekend full of chaos could be fun."

But, well, again, he was the boy whose signature sword was called Rebellion.

Ezra waved a hand dismissively. Well, mostly lazily. He couldn't be persuaded to do things in any other fashion right now.

(Well, not unless someting dirty was on offer.)

"This is too far away for my mom to bother, anyway," he said. "You'll have to make do with whatever chaos I can stir up by myself."

Dante shot him a glance. Then something came to mind, and he smirked. "You're wilier than you act, aren't you?" he said. "Heard you got laid twice over the stereo thing."

Ezra laughed. Half in surprise, half because hey, those were some very good memories to be reminded of. "I did," he confirmed. "In two very different settings, no less. Both very satisfying."

Dante shook his head, his mouth quirking up. Yeah, he thought that was hilarious. Still did.

"So I heard," he said, upbeat. "Guess our resident superhero caved to corruption, huh?"

"And how." Ezra, that wistful sigh was entirely uncalled for. "Although in her defense, I should mention I was very persuasive, and she put up a good fight. Roughed me up a little, too."

"You're sending her on a dangerous slippery slope, Ez," Dante said sagely. "You know she helped me steal a motorcycle the other day?"

"What?" Ezra asked, actually bothering to turn his head for that one. And he looked impressed. "Was it at least for a reason she could spin into being necessary?"

And, far more importantly:

"Also, did you make out on the motorcycle? There should have at least been some hasty groping."

"She wanted me to win a street race for her so she could go help bring down the mob or whatever," Dante said, shrugging one shoulder.

He reached over to find his pants, because he kind of wanted a cigarette now.

"We might have even had sex on the motorcycle if the cops hadn't shown up."

Ezra huffed in (mostly) mock annoyance. "Oh, the police. Always getting in the way of interesting things."

"I know. That was a pain in the fucking ass," Dante said. He managed to swipe the little box out of his pocket and pulled back onto the bed. "But I won the race, got the bike, got free booze at a party and fucked two hot biker bunnies, so I came out okay."

He slipped a cigarette into his mouth.

"Mmm."

Sorry, now he was stuck envisioning biker bunnies. (The type he assumed Dante meant, not the ones he actually knew, who were actual biker werehares.) It also served the purpose of distracting him from warning Dante off getting ash on his sheets.

Hey, he wasn't going to tap the cigarette above the sheets. That was a fire hazard, or something.

But Dante was going to light it.

"Right?" he said. "Even got to keep the bike."

"Nicely done," Ezra complimented him. Because he had absolutely no respect for the concept of private property. "I should up my game, I suppose," he added, stretching a little. "I haven't stolen anything that big or had sex with more than one person at a time in a while."

Dante thought about it.

"We've got a fall break trip coming up, don't we?" he mused. "I could probably help you fix at least one of those."

He was a great friend to have like that.

"Which one?"

Did he actually care? Probably not but it was fun to ask.

"Definitely the latter," Dante mused. He took a drag off his cigarette, then poked around for something that wasn't made of wood or cloth. "Maybe the former, if we find something good."

There was a... plate? Somewhere over on the night stand. Ezra'd had a long weekend of lazying about.

"The latter has a better payoff, anyway," he decided. "The former's fun but I don't want to drag my ill-gotten gains back onto the island."
