Room 210, Sunday Afternoon

Ava and Lock had meant to come visit this weekend. Or possibly Ava or Lock, since they were still being weird around each other. Because they were idiots. But in the end, neither ended up being able to come by. Some Coterie whatever, the usual. Alistair with an errand or something.

So, Ezra was spending his Sunday the way the gods had intended him to: by sprawling on his bed. And flirting with people over texts.

It was pretty great.

"You look like someone who hasn't left the room all weekend," Dante said, parking his ass against the door. "Almost missed the free booze."

Had he stolen a mimosa from brunch? Yeah, pretty much.

"There was free booze?"

Ezra was not actually hugely interested in that kind of thing, most of the time. But he was always interested in Dante, so he smirked over towards the door all the same.

"I don't know, my bed's too comfortable for me to be too sad about that."

Sex was only roughly one bar above booze in Dante's priority list, so he'd been happy about the alcohol.

"Don't have to be, anyway," Dante said, "Got this one halfway up the stairs when I figured I was fucking sick of orange juice."

He nudged the door shut with his foot. Not that he was necessarily in a rush, but eh, him and Ezra in a room together, seemed prudent.

Ezra alone together with a whole lot of people at this school seemed to call for a closed door. He just considered it a good way to think ahead.

He pushed himself up on his elbows, then reached out a hand. "Well, if you're sick of it..."

"Figured you could help me out," Dante said. ...Sort of agreeably, for his standards. He passed the glass on to Ezra, and then, figuring that payment enough, flopped on the bed in whatever space Ez wasn't occupying. "At least these school weekends don't leave us hungry."

"Speak for yourself," Ezra retorted, shifting just the tiniest bit to occupy the an equally tiny bit less space. "The room service in this place is highly unreliable."

Except for the mimosa.

"Hey, you could always steal some shit and pay your way into the hotel," Dante said easily.

"But that would involve getting off this bed."

And he was having one of his particularly lazy phases.

"You've seriously just been sitting here ordering delivery all weekend, haven't you?"

Dante was more amused than anything else. Ezra was Ezra.

Ezra rolled his eyes and sighed theatrically. "Well not all weekend."

"That's almost disappointing," Dante sighed.

He slid a little further into the space alotted to him. He was maybe a little drunk by now, and Ezra's bed was actually pretty nice and warm.

"No, it's not, cupcake." He took a sip from the glass. Mm, mimosa. "What's disappointing is that you did not see the opening to talk about getting off in this bed when I said I didn't want to get off it."

"Maybe I just showed up here 'cause your bed's comfortable," Dante said, Very Seriously, and followed it up with a similarly significant look that just happened to require getting pretty close to Ezra's face.

So no, that was probably not why he'd shown up.

"No way," said a voice from his doorway. "You can't be Ezra. At least, not that Ezra. It's impossible."

"I don't know about that, sweetheart," Ezra replied, with an amused glance and a raised eyebrow towards the doorway and the girl there. "There aren't many of us here. In fact, as far as I know, I'm the only one."

"But you're hot!" Sarah told him. "Like, way hot! I mean, Dante said you were, but I thought he was just being nice!"

Which showed an incredibly flawed understanding of how Dante worked, but details.

Ezra laughed as he pushed himself more upright. All the way up to sitting, in fact. This seemed like the time to pay attention.

"Well, Dante never lies when it comes to things of that level of importance."

This weekend really had Sarah considering Kathy in a new light. Right now, she was super impressed that her sister had learned to flirt from this guy--he was hot enough that even she felt a little tongue-tied and she wasn't Miss Wallflower 2010-2015.

"I like Dante's priorities," Sarah said, batting her lashes at Ezra. "Though I think he may have undersold your appeal, wow."

Ezra smirked in a way that probably would make Kathy want to maim him. Oh well. "You should tell me more about that."

Somewhere, Kathy had the inexplicable urge to scream, She just turned fourteen! Go figure.

"How hot you are?" Sarah asked, lounging in the doorway in such a way that her chest stuck out a little. "I have a feeling you already know."

Hey, he could see she was pretty young! That was why he was just smirking instead of leering!

"But I always enjoy hearing it."

"Well, you're way hotter than I expected," Sarah told him honestly. "You're not even nerd-hot, you're, like, regular hot, but times ten."

And then she winked at him. "Of course, I'm told I'm pretty, too." Hint hint.

Guess who had inherited the lion's share of boldness in the family?

"Well, you're certainly not unattractive," Ezra told her, because he couldn't not. "So, to what do I owe this pleasure? Just Dante randomly advertising my attractiveness?"

"Not unattractive?" Sarah pouted at him. "And here I was talking nice about how hot you are." You could do better, Ezra, c'mon! She had a healthy teen ego to feed. "And I looked you up because I wanted to know who you are. You know my sister. Know her pretty well, Dante says."

Yep, Sarah was still fishing for information. Because the way Kathy had acted when she'd brought up Ezra's name had been very interesting.
