Mainland Side of the Causeway, Saturday Noon

It was possible Ezra was still a little drunk from last night.

It was absolute fact, however, that he had somehow managed to lose his shirt over the course of the night, because he was currently traipsing towards the causeway with brief flashes of the still slightly tanned skin of his stomach showing from underneath his jacket. He had also gained a scarf from somewhere. It was silk and had bright flowers on it. It was definitely not one of his. Except now it was.

He stopped and gazed towards the island, swaying in place a little bit, squinting at the silhouette of the school through his sunglasses, which sat a little crookedly on his nose. He sighed. This was good.

Except for the stupid walk back to the island, of course.

"Mmm." Ronan reached into the car and tightened something. "What kind?"

"A nice kind." Duh. "But my baby is still back home. Under strict orders that no one take her out unless they absolutely have to."

"You think whoever you told that to is really gonna listen?" he asked, wiping his hands on a rag before stepping back so he could drop the hood. "I wouldn't."

It'd lead him to taking and wrecking Gansey's car in the future.

"And that, sweetcheeks, is why you would never be allowed to be in possession of my car," Ezra informed him. If he sounded a little distracted, it was because his gaze had slid down and now he was totally checking out Ronan's ass.

Because he could.

Ronan, at least, was oblivious to the look he was getting right now. At this point, he half expected it from Ezra along with the nakedness he seemed to love displaying.

"I've got my own car," he pointed out, stopping himself from dropping the hood after spotting one other thing he wanted to take care of. He leaned further over the engine, stretching to twist and tug something in the car.

Ezra could continue to enjoy.

Which he did.

He didn't even say anything while he was doing it. His morning needed a nice visual like this, especially since he'd been so cruelly cast out from... whoever's apartment it was that he'd found himself in before his trek back to the island.

"Why are you so quiet?" Ronan asked, finally pulling away from what he'd been doing and glancing at Ezra. "Only time you're like that is if your mouth's otherwise occupied."

Ezra smirked at him. It was wide and predatory.

"Well, I might have been thinking about something like that."

Ronan raised an eyebrow and picked up his rag again to wipe his hands.

"Yesterday, you weren't too keen to do anything but question me," he reminded Ezra. "Today, you're half naked and thinking dirty thoughts, huh?"

Ezra shrugged. "I lost my shirt." That explained... all of one part of that. "And I had a good evening. Which I'm now trying to stretch out as best as I can."

"By thinking about me?" He had enough of an ego to assume Ezra was thinking about him. "How flattering."

"Well, you're here." So it was really more a matter of convenience than anything else, if you asked Ezra. "So, currently, yes."

"I could leave," he pointed out, glancing at his car. "Haven't had a ride in a few days."

Did he say it like that intentionally? Ronan would never tell.

Ezra was going to take it as intentional whether it was meant that way or not, so that didn't matter. "You could," he agreed. "You could also take me with you, get me a nice cup of coffee, and see if that gets you anything."

"Who says I want anything from you?" he asked, dropping the hood back down and leaning against it, arms crossed.

"I do," Ezra told him. "Or that you at least should want something from me. Which is virtually the same thing. Especially considering you're so hard to pin down."

Ronan raised an eyebrow. "And what should I want from you? The pleasure of your company in my car?"

"The pleasure of my company and attention, in your car," Ezra corrected him. He ran a hand back through his hair. "Among other things."

"Uh huh." That wasn't a yes but it wasn't a no either. Instead, Ronan moved around him and got into his car. The engine was already running so he just revved it to hear the purr louder and longer.

He glanced at Ezra from behind the windshield.

Ezra could take a hint. And even if it wasn't a hint, Ezra could still take initiative.

So he got himself moving. In a few seconds, he was smoothly sliding onto the passenger seat and pulling the door closed after himself.

"Don't touch anything," Ronan told him bluntly before throwing the car into gear and angling it out of the parking lot and towards the causeway.

"Wasn't going to," Ezra said, slouching in his seat and pushing his sunglasses up to the top of his head. "I don't let anyone touch anything in my car either."

"You're lucky you're in here without a shirt." He wasn't too keen on sweat and other things (that weren't his, at least) getting on his seats. But, he gunned the engine and the car jumped, hitting high speeds quickly and smoothly.

Ezra just leaned back in his seat. "I'm still wearing a jacket." And a fetching scarf! "You're lucky I'm here without a shirt."

Even if he probably couldn't appreciate glimpses of abs as well as Kathy had.

Ronan had no real destination in mind. He just wanted to drive and drive fast. Which he was doing. He looked more comfortable than he tended to look in other situations.

"Get someone else to fawn over you because I'm not going to do it," he said in response to that.
