Mainland Side of the Causeway, Saturday Noon
It was possible Ezra was still a little drunk from last night.
It was absolute fact, however, that he had somehow managed to lose his shirt over the course of the night, because he was currently traipsing towards the causeway with brief flashes of the still slightly tanned skin of his stomach showing from underneath his jacket. He had also gained a scarf from somewhere. It was silk and had bright flowers on it. It was definitely not one of his. Except now it was.
He stopped and gazed towards the island, swaying in place a little bit, squinting at the silhouette of the school through his sunglasses, which sat a little crookedly on his nose. He sighed. This was good.
Except for the stupid walk back to the island, of course.

What did you say to someone you'd only spoken to once, and then made out with a lot?
"Hey." That. You said that, apparently. "...Interesting scarf."
no subject
"Thanks," he said. "It was a gift." He guessed. He couldn't actually remember. "Hello, Kathy."
no subject
"Hi Ezra," she said, totally not blushing again because that would be ridiculous. Besides, Ezra was wearing sunglasses. Maybe he wouldn't notice! "Are you okay? You don't look entirely steady on your feet."
Kathy had never done a walk of shame. Or been so drunk it carried over to the next day.
Or been drunk at all and damn did this girl need to live a little.

Neither the drunkenness nor the sunglasses stopped Ezra from noticing the blush. He might as well have had a sixth sense just for that. His grin was a little wolfish.
"I'm fine," he said, rocking on his boots a little just to make a point of that. The movement was a little less controlled than it might have been usually, but at least he was in no danger of falling over. "Just basking in the remains of a good evening."
Night into early morning. Whatever.
no subject
"Ohhhh," she said, noticing the way his jacket showed skin underneath, rather than clothing. "Is that, uhh, what happened to your shirt?"
...Not that she was looking or anything. Really.
no subject
"I gifted that away," he decided. "Probably."
no subject
"In exchange for the scarf?" she asked, trying to maintain eye contact and failing terribly. "You really think you came out on top of that exchange, there?"
Dammit, his abs were really nice. She half-wanted to pull her shirt up just to compare.
no subject
He was still smirking at her faltering eye contact. And he shrugged. "I don't know, I think the scarf's growing on me. It pops."
no subject
She gave him a smile. "I think I outran my manners somewhere back in town."

She was so not sorry for that.
"Now I'm trying to convince myself that exercise is important and that I'm not just procrastinating studying for my SATs." Internally, she facepalmed. Way to sell the whole cool kid image she'd been going for. "And you? Am I wrong? Did I miss the best spring break in history?"
no subject
"Oh, it was fun, but it's nice to be back, too." He brushed a hand through his hair. "Ridiculing people for what they were wearing started getting old towards the end of the week."

But, he was out there now, hood popped while the engine ran noisily. He really wished, sometimes, he had Adam's know how with cars.
no subject
Of course, that made him obnoxiously cheerful, because he could be. "Nice car, Grumpy!" he exclaimed as he finally made it onto the parking lot side of the causeway.
no subject
He was not obnoxiously cheerful, of course.

When you were often the designated driver for work stuff, you had to pick up some things about maintenance.

It'd lead him to taking and wrecking Gansey's car in the future.
no subject
Because he could.
no subject
"I've got my own car," he pointed out, stopping himself from dropping the hood after spotting one other thing he wanted to take care of. He leaned further over the engine, stretching to twist and tug something in the car.
Ezra could continue to enjoy.

He didn't even say anything while he was doing it. His morning needed a nice visual like this, especially since he'd been so cruelly cast out from... whoever's apartment it was that he'd found himself in before his trek back to the island.
